Fitter Spotlight – Tine at Zadelmakerij Hancke

Frank Baines Saddlery is delighted to announce our first fitter feature with Zadelmakerij Hancke.

Based in Belgium,  proprietor Tine has worked with Frank Baines saddles for many years. The business has its own workshops and a qualified saddle adjuster. Tine is also the fitter who Elise Broche chose to measure and fit her saddle.

We talked to Tine about fitting Elise and Duke.

“It was a pleasure working with Elise and Duke. Duke is a sensitive horse with a slight asymmetry in his body and movement. The saddles Elise tried had the tendency to slip, so we adjusted the back girth-strap with the hoped-for result. After trying a few saddles the Operetta was the saddle where Duke showed the most movement, comfort and back lift.

“It was also the most comfortable for her. It didn’t restrict her and the knee-block gave just the right amount of support.

Elise loved the opportunity to bespoke the saddle. She loves bling and chose Swarovski on the cantle and flap inserts. Patent back facing and silver welting finishes the look. Nu-buck in the seat and blocks for extra grip.

When Elise received the saddle it had a perfect fit. She was immediately used to the new feeling. The shorter back girth-strap and the right tree size ensured the saddle stayed in place.

The anatomical girth that came with the saddle was, to Elise’s surprise, a good choice for Duke. Due to his sensitive nature he does not approve of some anatomical girth. But the Frank Baines he approved of.

I always try to find the best solutions for a combination. In particular when a standard fit does not get the job done. That is why I love the made-to-measure saddles from Frank Baines. ”

Thanks for your time Tine and the expertise and support you give our riders!
