Do your saddles have trees?

Yes, all our saddles have wooden trees. Saddle trees are designed to distribute the weight of the rider evenly across the horse.

Can they be altered?

The trees used in the Frank Baines Saddlery range are laminated beechwood trees.

They do not have an adjustable head plate but the fit can be made wider by either returning it directly to Frank Baines Saddlery (charges apply) or having a qualified saddle fitter use a machine such as the saddle devil.

The fitter needs to be experienced in this alteration and make sure the panel is removed from the saddle to access the tree to ensure symmetry.

We do not recommend narrowing the fit but widening is fine
